Veinticinco: a myth of the brain

Veinticinco: A Myth of the Brain was an original piece by Isabella Uzcategui, collaboratively devised by its actors – Ana, Isabella, Sofía Figueroa and Sofía Sam, all Latin American women. This trilingual performance explored memories, dreams, language and identity. It was produced at the Experimental Theater Wing (NYU), but later brought to The Tank, in a reviewed version directed by Attilio Rigotti and assistant directed by Maria Sofia Hernández.

W.A.V.E - Women against violence experience: E se fosse com você?

The Women Against Violence Experiment (W.A.V.E.) is the product of a yearlong investigation about information gaps in the New York’s Latina immigrant community by Brazilian journalist Isadora Varejão. She found that women have little or no knowledge about the different forms of abuse to which they are vulnerable (by a partner, a boss, a landlord) or the available resources to protect them against abuse, such as free services and U.S. legislation.

This forum play portrays a Brazilian immigrant in an abusive relationship, and it was developed in collaboration with Ana and nine other members of the Brazilian community following the Theater of the Oppressed methodology and directed by Becca Kenisgberg. The play debuted on Friday, December 6, 2019, at the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY, and then taken on tour to New Jersey and to the Brazilian Consulate in NY at an event led by Luiza Brunet, an internationally admired actress and activist from Brazil. The play was in Portuguese, but Varejao did the facilitation in both Portuguese and English.

For The Time Being is a non-realistic piece about letting go of the past, accepting the uncertainty of the future and embracing the present. Maria (Ana Moioli), unable to sleep after having bad dreams about her dog in Brazil, reaches out to her friend Rachel (Devlin Stark), who turns out to mirror the former's struggles more than expected. With this, the two girls and their third friend, Drew (Martin Drop), begin a circular journey of helping each other and using their similarities and differences to deal with their internal crisis.
